Two Boys Were Digging In The Yard When They Uncovered THIS. But That’s Only Half The Story. -...

What’s the most incredible or unusual thing you might find in your backyard? Say you pick up a metal detector and find an old coin, or perhaps comes across an arrowhead. That’s all well and good, but nothing even comes close to what two California boys found in 1978.

Because these kids found a Ferrari !

This is the front yard in a Los Angeles neighborhood where the vehicular treasure was discovered in early February of 1978.

A new family had just moved into the house when their two boys struck gold. The family called the authorities, and an excavation began. It turned out that the car was actually an insanely valuable 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS.

The car had been poorly mummified with towels and cloths. It was obvious that someone wanted to come back for it. But who? And why did they bury it?

After an investigation by the police, the nefarious reason as to why it was down there was discovered.

The previous owners hired criminals to drive the car into the ocean so they could claim the insurance money. But those thieves hid the car in the ground in hopes of coming back for it.

With the mystery solved and the car making headlines all over the nation, it was auctioned off to the highest bidder. A mechanic with his own shop bought it and restored it.

The gorgeous car was like new again, except this Ferrari had a story unlike any other.

In addition to entering the buried Ferrari in car shows, the new owner put a vanity plate on it that read “Dug Up.”

Not a bad thing to find just lying right under your front yard.

Well, that doesn’t happen everyday. What a story.

TERRIFYING World's Most Dangerous Roads (Photo Gallery)

#1 Karakoram Highway

Image via blogspot.com

This highway linking Pakistan and China reaches altitues of 16,000 feet and is no laughing matter. You wouldn't want to fall off this one.

#2 Guoliang Tunnel Road (China)

This tunnel/road is 1,200 meters long and was built by locals in the 70's. It took 5 years to construct this road that tunnels in and out of some of the steepest peaks in China.

#3 The Road Through The Himalayas

This road through India has more curves than any road should. Trucks commonly fall down the steep grades of this road.

#4 Road Of Death

This Bolivian road is not only long, but it is called the road of death for a reason. It is responsible for 100-200 fatalities a year.

5 Of The Dumbest Things People Brought To The Auto Shop

It's common to hear horror stories about people who have had terrible experiences with mechanics. Complaints about being swindled, cheated, over overcharged are common, but what about mechanics who have had to deal with dumb customers? Some people deal with car troubles their own way, ignoring warnings from their vehicle or using duct tape to fix the problem, leaving mechanics scratching their heads.

There's the Problem

The owner of this Volkswagen Jetta came to the conclusion that they were dealing with an air leak, so they wrapped their airflow meter and intake hose with tape. It wasn't duct tape and easily removed, but the mechanic wasn't happy about having to fiddle with this.

#1 Gliding on the Highway

Turning on this tire must have been like riding a slip and slide. Driving on a completely worn tire is more than dangerous, as they are easily punctured or can cause a loss of of vehicle control (braking, spin outs, etc.).

#2 More Cowbell

If this was a prank: genius. In this instance, the customer complained to the mechanic that they kept hearing a bell sound coming from under their car. There's no word on why they didn't just take a peek under the vehicle, but the auto shop took care of the concern by detaching the belt that connected the bell to the vehicle.

#3 Strap Up

People will do anything to keep from having to buy new tires. Maybe it's because it's recommended that tires must be purchased two or four at a time, increasing your bill if you only need one. However, there are moments when it's just time to say R.I.P. to your worn tires and splurge (or catch a sale!) for new ones.

#4 Warning Signs

Your check engine light is your friend. When it pops on, it's safe to say that most of the time it's your car's way of getting your attention. For this car owner, however, they decided that it was more of a suggestion than anything, and rode 84,000 before having their first oil change.

#5 A Different Kind of Herb

Not completely positive, but that doesn't look like basil. Marijuana smokers may have secret stashes in their cars, so it isn't uncommon for mechanics to come across the random ways people try to conceal their weed.

And safety is important, but if something requires a lock that big maybe it shouldn't be stored in your car. Also, how does one's tire bubble in ten different places?

6 Breathtaking Out-Of-This-World Photos

We live in a beautiful, vast world full of wonders we have yet to discover. For most of us, the only exposure we will have to these wonders is through the shared experiences of those around us. These pictures are awe-inspiring. They remind us of how small we are, yet somehow give us a sense of connectedness and belonging. We all share the same planet.

6 Drivers You Don't Want To Share The Road With

When you think about it, it's amazing that we as humans have adapted to driving at all. The idea that an average citizen can be trusted with a metal box capable of traveling over 100 miles an hour would boggle the minds of our ancestors, but it's taken for granted today. Yet for some people, that level of comfort can turn into something more dangerous: carelessness. Whether they're drinking, texting or just not paying attention to their surroundings, people who don't take driving seriously can threaten their own safety and that of others. So, for the next time you're wondering why there are so many PSAs about impaired or distracted driving, here are 16 reminders.

1. It didn't take this drunk driver long to learn the meaning of "instant karma."

via reddit / t_11

2. This person is going 75 miles per hour.

Also, just in case the picture seems hypocritical, the photographer is in the back seat.

via reddit / [deleted]

3. This isn't an abandoned van, the driver's seat is apparently clear.

How anyone can stand driving this, I'll never know. And it's dangerous because they can't see through any of the mirrors.

via reddit / tli3

4. Apparently, this drunk driver ran over some guy-wires.

And then, this happened.

via imgur / dudeexcellent

5. It's hard to tell what the thought process was here.

I guess they wanted to see where that ramp went.

6. It sucks that he's late for his clown gig, but that doesn't excuse this.

This isn't the right way to multitask.

Future BMW M8

According to M GmbH boss Friedrich Nitschke, the M GmbH will unveil the… BMW M8 2016.

Thus, the M8 is probably suitable for the 100th Birthday presents and have a twin-turbo V8 under the hood, which is to be able to make about 600 hp.
Since the car in about 3 seconds from 0 – 100 km / h sprint and will have a top speed of 322 km / h is probably an ultra lightweight body as Carbon fiber (carbon) are used.

Rumor has it that the vehicle has not been approved by the BMW board, but also knows the Board that in the revival of the legendary M1 is a huge potential lies. Maybe we’ll see the car as a “concept” already in 2015, before then production (probably in limited numbers) starts a year later.

5 Most Expensive Vintage Cars

We all know there are cars, and then there are cars. For the automobile enthusiast, some vehicles just rise far above the rest. They’re not just transportation. They are art, inspiration, beauty – on wheels. Here’s five of the priciest pieces of “art on wheels” that you’ll ever find.

1. 1962 Ferrari 250 LM

Only 32 of these babies were ever produced, and at the last auction, they went for $6.9 million a pop.

2. 1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe

If you thought #1 was rare, you were mistaken. Only 6 of the Shelby Coupes from 1965 ever made it to market, and they each rode off on a dazzling $7.25 million dollars, making it one of the most expensive vintage cars ever.

3. 1904 Rolls-Royce 10 HP

A true vintage cars beauty, one of 17, this car is the oldest known Rolls-Royce in existence. It is not just art, but history.

4. 1929 Mercedes-Benz 38/250 SSK

The most widely-produced car on this list (35 were made), it was the last car Ferdinand Porsche designed for Mercedes-Benz before he left the company – to form his own. Anyone know what that start-up was called?

5. 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atalante

Fewer than 12 of these cars were produced, and no two of them were identical.

Render: Lamborghini Sinistro by Maher Thebian

We’ve brought you some stunning concept creations from Maher Thebian in the past and his latest one is arguably the most insane and impressive to date. Maher is dubbing his latest project the Lamborghini Sinistro Concept and as with all of his designs, it’s simply out of this world!
As its name suggests, the Lamborghini Sinistro Concept has been created to be just that, a Lamborghini, and consequently it features all the insane styling you’d expect from any Lamborghini. However, whereas Lamborghini only turns the extreme scale up to 10, Maher has turned it up way past 11 with this design.

As the following images show, the Lamborghini Sinistro Concept seems to have a similar size to the relatively compact Lamborghini Sesto Elemento and features a few trademark Lamborghini features such as its centre-exiting exhaust and Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV inspired rear wing and diffuser.

Apart from those details, the Lamborghini Sinistro Concept features completely bespoke body work incorporating massive wheels both front and rear, as well as an extremely aggressive front bumper with massive air intakes. As you would expect from any Lamborghini supercar, the Lamborghini Sinistro Concept has been designed with a mid-engined layout.

Bugatti Gangloff Concept

Today we want to show you amazing concept car created by Polish designer Paweł Czyżewski. The Bugatti Gangloff Concept is a design study of a sleek supercar inspired by the 1938 Type 57 SC Atalante Coupe one-off. The name Gangloff is from the French coach-builder that created the Type 57 SC Atalante. As you can see from features like the size air intakes and the horsehoe grille, the car also brings in cues from the Veyron. “In times of commercial trash and plastic it is hard to see something that has a soul and is able to squeeze out a positive mark on the heart,” Czyzewski said about the car.
